Hi does mcv fluctuate? i have had a few blood test and they are all different. ranging from 81-88. i do give blood but i have waited longer i between donations before this last test and my mcv was lower.id have thought it should be higher?

It can change. That mild variation is not concerning. There is no reason to monitor this.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, the variation on your MCV is not a cause for concern. Wish you good health!

My last CBC blood test indicated RDW of 16.2, MCV 82, MCH 27.5, MCHC, 33.4 and platelets 390. The only high readings were the RDW and platelets. ?
