A cold compress can reduce pain sensations during each application. Once the area warms up the intensity may return. It can be used as often as tolerated until you get the thing fixed.

If your having this much pain, it sounds like you may have an infected pilonidal cyst that requires surgical drainage and if it recurs frequently, my require a more extensive surgical resection. Best to be seen ASAP by a qualified colorectal surgeon. Don’t delay please. Be careful of ER’s and urgent care treatments as they can be inadequate at least and at worse make surgery more complex
