A member asked:

What does this mean? portal vein: patent with flow directed towards the liver (hepatopetal). my son, age 15, had this on his ultrasound?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The words mean the same thing as normal. The radiologist gets fussed at by the other docs if they do not describe what they see in detail, so they describe it with anatomically specific terms.
