I don't think that new onset joint pains are common during menses. Weakness and lightheadedness can be due to blood loss, iron deficiency or actual anemia. I recommend that you take an iron supplement. Some studies show that the iron supplement is better absorbed when taken every other day but you'd need more if you're actually anemic from iron deficiency. Your MD is best to advise you,though.
