Much of high blood pressure is labeled "idiopathic" meaning they haven't been able to find a cause after an evaluation. It still requires and will respond to treatment with a variety of medications. Get him evaluated and treated or he will develop the long-term complications of this killer.

High blood pressure(HBP) runs is some families and gallops in others Do a family for HBP. Salt is also an important cause of high blood pressure. Have him us the app Cronometer to see how much sodium he is eating. If not less than1,500 mg per day he should discuss the DASH diet with his Dr. if he prefers not to take meds. It will lower BP to healthy level in about 50% of folks.
