A 29-year-old member asked about a 63-year-old male:

My dad has always had high blood pressure for years. his bp is now at 220/120 but comes down to 180/100 from time to time. i am so concerned because he doesn't believe in western medicine. when should i expect for a stroke or heart attack?

Hard to Say: His blood pressure is high. High blood pressure over long periods of time increases the risks for Heart attacks, stroke, and kidney disease as it tends to cause damage to the blood vessels. Though it raises the probability that one or more of these things might occur, no one can predict with certainty exactly when or if they will occur in an individual case. I'd encourage him to have it checked
