A member asked:

My father is having a high blood pressure, so what are the side effects of using amlor and preterax at the same time?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Monitor potassium: Amlor is amilioride, a potassium sparing diuretic. Preterax is indapamide (a potassium wasting thiazide) and perindopril (an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor). The combination is rational and likely to be effective. However, there is a complex interaction on electrolyte balance. Depending on kidney function, potassium could become too low, too high, or remain normal-thus it must be checked.
