A member asked:

Infection with puronlet drainage on medial aspect and tip of great toe with tenderness and redness, swelling. what could cause this? cannot bend big toe? could it be broken?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Is there any evidence of an ingrown toenail which is often associated with infection around the toenail? Treatment for the paronychia involves lifting up the nail to let out pus. Hot water soaks and, occasionally oral antibiotics are also prescribed. I think a podiatrist would administer best care&follow-up for this infection. In the meantime soak or apply warm compresses for 20 minutes at a time
