A member asked:

Kids have virus and im sched. to get the bivalent covid vax. should i hold off on getting it since im most likely going to get their cold or should i get vaccine and risk it? i dont want to lessen immune response with vax if i have/get a cold?

Most experts tell us that mild or moderate head colds don't interfere with antibody response to the covid vaccine or make reactions to it worse. If I had the choice, I would prefer taking a vaccine when I'm feeling fine.

Your immune system is designed to respond to separate challenges individually at the same time. Being illness free or having a minor cold is no reason to avoid a scheduled vaccine. I would get it and not worry about it.
