Muscular/ tendon damage along with a hematoma appears likely and aside from possible damage at a different site, such as spine. Such changes are not picked by a simple X-ray. Muscular tears are notorious for lasting for weeks to months, in case pain persists a higher sensitivity test, such as an MRI may help in identifying the source for the pain.
