It is likely that peroneal nerve was injured or severed at time of motor vehicle accident. The EMG should provide severity answers. If there is some nerve preservation, axonal recovery might occur at speed of 0.1 mm/ day. In meantime have an AFO splint or custom orthotic device to support the foot. Stiff cowboy boots might serve a similar purpose. Rehabilitation steps to help cope, of value.

EMG is for diagnosis and not therapeutic. You may want to have a physical therapist help her so she could be able to have better functioning of the foot. It would be important to learn exercises to do at home and with the therapist to limit disability.
