A member asked:

Had a d&c with hysteroscopy. results are complex eh with atypia. gyne been trying to push hysterectomy since day 1 of thinking it was simple hyperplasia. what are mortality rates of hysterectomy? overweight. other options?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

EH with atypia, also known as endometrial intraepithelial neoplasia (EIN) can lead to, or co-exist with, endometrial cancer. Hysterectomy is the preferred treatment and can be performed using minimally invasive surgery with a low incidence of adverse events. An alternative is using progestins (synthetic progesterone) to try to reverse EIN, but there are concerns regarding effectiveness.
