It depends in part on what is causing stress and it that can be avoided. A general approach to minimizing the effects of unavoidable stress is exercise. It may seem counterintuitive but regular aerobic exercise for about 30 minutes a day will reduce the physical effects of stress. Prayer and practicing your faith may be helpful too. Wish you good health!

I agree with Dr. S. Stress is more of a transient challenge as opposed to chronic anxiety. In addition to Dr. S's suggestions, when you're encountering a stressful situation, taking slow deep breaths, thinking of pleasant scenarios are some other stress relievers. Cognitive behavioral therapy or stress management coaching by a mental health professional are also helpful.
