As you suggest, don't take other medications sooner than 2 hours before or after taking gaviscon which will interfere with absorption of these meds. Be sure to take gaviscon after meals and not on an empty stomach as it'll pass too readily through the stomach into the small intestine and be ineffective.

Yes, you can do that, but gaviscon (an antacid) should be taken as needed only because effective dose for antacid is 3-4 times a day. If you need a medication for suppressing gastric acidity more than 3 days, you can try famotidine (pepcid), a histamine-2 blocker, also sold OTC, if you are afraid off side effect of omeprazole (prilosec) or other proton pump inhibitors.

Gaviscon and metoprolol may taken at the same time, 2 hours apart, or any other time because they do not affect one another. It’s best to take gaviscon after meals and at bedtime (up to 4 times a day).
