A member asked:

I had my thumb examined, they said it was just a sprain after x-rays were done, but my thumb will randomly get hot to the touch/feel warm or randomly get the pins and needles feeling. it still has swelling where i hit it a week later. second opinion?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I recommend a second opinion from a hand surgeon. I don't know what type of injury caused your thumb symptoms, but I think further investigation is needed to look for torn tissue or a tiny fracture. These types of injuries are best diagnosed, treated and followed up by a hand specialist to avoid permanent damage and limitations of hand strength & function.
