A member asked:

Plz help with medicine for anxiety im breastfeeding mom before i was taking amitripline is it still ok for breastfeeding?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

This medication does appear in breastmilk in small quantities, estimated at 1% of the mothers dose. In rare instances it has been linked to some drossiness in baby, but it is not considered something to avoid in usual maternal doses. It is more important for baby to have a mom who functions well than to avoid a drug that keeps her healthy.
