24 hours ago i slammed my thumb in a salad bowl chiller at work, it immediately swelled up, became painful to touch, numb-ish, and now looks off. it has a darker area where i hit it, and has not improved. it has limited mobility, is it a sprain?

This type of injury is not a sprain but is a contusion and may even be a bone bruise or fracture. . I recommend an x-ray because of the immediate, substantial swelling. Ice it and proceed to the emergency room where prompt attention is available.
