When & for how long: Nerve compressions can occur after relatively short times (minutes to hours) depending on the degree of nerve compression. Such can lead to numbness, weakness, loss of function. Duration depends on multiple factors: type of compression, location of injury, nerve involved, other coexisting illnesses. Has this lasted more than 3 days & you're no better, get examined.
