A member asked:

Why would an ultrasound show something a ct did not? my. dr ordered a ct of throat, it was clear, about a month later he ordered an ultrasound of thyroid and a small spot on either the parathyroid or something near. blood tests, parathyroid healthy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Generally CT scans are more accurate than ultrasound as details of tissues are more visible. Also ultrasound is operator dependent. Why were they ordered in the first place? A repeat CT might be considered giving the ultrasound finfing as the reason.
