A member asked:

When checking for pcos, is there an optimal time (such as the day of the cycle) to get an ultrasound?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

With PCOS, a woman's cycle is not generally ovulatory, but consists of higher stimulation of ovaries, producing high levels of estrogen which can lead to cellular changes in the lining of the uterus (endometrium). An ultrasound will show thickening of the endometrium as well as the typical increased number of follicle cysts common in PCOS, so anytime for an U/S will provide more information.
