: Bruising &amp; swelling often occur after damage to underlying structures -- in this case a sprain. So it is to be expected. Neither resolves in 24hrs. It'll take a couple weeks. Please pursue ice, compression, elevation, and anti-inflammatories (if no allergies) for now.
