A member asked:

I am from the uk. i have noticed my platelet levels on my blood results have been high for a while. used to range from 325-397 since around 2014. however since 2019 they have went from 408. this year: 392, 403, 434, 424, 435 and now 480. why?

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, iron deficiency is a common cause of elevated platelet counts and it is common in young women. Take oral iron and multivitamins and retest in 3-6 months. Wish you good health!
