Transcutaneous epidural steroid injections are most successful if a documented nerve compression causing clinical signs of radiculopathy are present, but usually transient benefit, allowing time for conservation interventions. Certainly beneficial to obtain both surgical and physiatrist consultations to cover range of interventions.
