A member asked:

Hello my son is 15 years old and he has a 7mm overjet, how could this get fixed?

He needs to see an ORTHODONTIST for exam and treatment. Having his teeth stick out so much is a dental health problem as well as a possible psychological scenario.

Please see an orthodontist to have your son's malocclusion evaluated. Treatment options will then be presented to you.

Optimal overjet (horizontal overbite) is 2mm. A 7 mm OJ indicates that your son's malocclusion (bad bite) is both dental and skeletal, and as you have seen is not self correcting. Please see a specialist Orthodontist for appropriate care. He's more than 10 years past due for what should have been his 1st (usually free) orthodontic screening exam.
