Family member bw :platelets 60,mch 34.9 ,mchc 35.9 , bilirubin 1.6 , ast 41. everything else in range. referred to hematology / oncology by primary. are they thinking cancer or is hematology and oncology usually a combined practice? what could it be?

Hematology oncology is usually a combined practice. The low platelet count does warrant consultation with a hematologist. Wish you good health!
