Without a full review of his past records/testing and treatment plus a physical exam it is not possible to chart a course for treatment. It is reasonable to keep a symptom chart/diary with all past/current meds and take that information to a follow-up visit. These are not rare, but each are an individual patient whose treatment will differ based on findings.

More information would be helpful. During a virtual consultation with Healthtap, you may upload the work up and have an evaluation. A dry persistent cough is often related to asthma and a chest imaging study, pulmonary function testing is often useful. Has your son had these tests and an Allergy evaluation? Having family members with allergic disease increases the likelihood of allergies.
