Depends on kid/ped: I followed hundreds of asthma patients in my practice and less than 5% ever needed to consult with a pulmonologist. It may depend on the level of training or comfort of the pediatrician and the availability of a pulmonologist. In my town of 200,000 the pulmonologists would not see kids under 18. They could be seen 40-100 miles away by a pedi-pulmonologist with a 1-2 mo wait.

Asthma : I would think that your primary care provider would be appropriate. Good Luck
