My 2.5 year old had a cough and runny nose last evening 8pm and gave her benadryl then at bedtime (930pm) i noticed she felt warm (temp of 101.2) and gave her tylenol. woke up to check her and temp has gone up to 102.4 @1215am. what should i do?

You treat the same as any other time she has fever, Tylenol or Motrin, good hydration, simple balanced nutrition & monitor her activities. Self- healing viruses can run high fevers. If any of her symptoms spook you arrange to have her seen today.

Unless there is an allergic reaction, Benadryl not recommended. At this age, agree most likely viral. Nasal saline for congestion relief is often effective in reducing cough due to post nasal drip. Provide fluids, treat fever and see your Pediatrician if symptoms persist or worsen. Watch for rash, swelling and breathing difficulty.
