Antibiotics usually should not be given if enlarged lymph nodes are the only problem. If skin infection of the arm or nearby that is believed to be causing the lymph node inflammation, then staph usually should be covered with antibiotics. The usual approach in that situation is combination treatment, e.g. with cephalexin (Keflex®) plus sulfa-trimethoprim (Bactrim®). Discuss with your doctor.

Swollen lymph nodes does not mean you need antibiotics. Please consult with a physician in person who can examine you and determine the best course of action.
