Two answers: 1) The virus probably survives only a few minutes, definitely not after the fluid containing it has dried. 2) It doesn't matter: HSV is rarely if ever transmitted by indirect contact of this sort. People in the households of HSV infected persons do not catch it through contaminated clothing, toilets, towels, eating utensils, etc. Use common sense hygiene, but don't go crazy over it!
