The risks are mostly mild but I do not take the risk in the first trimester, especially the Omicron BA. 5 can escape both natural immunity and vaccination. By UPTODATE: infected women, especially those who develop pneumonia, appear to have an increased frequency of preterm birth (birth before 37 weeks of gestation) and possibly cesarean delivery, which is likely related to severe maternal illness.
