A member asked:

Over the last year, my ana was positive 6 times between 1:80 to 1:320 homogeneous but negative twice. i have many systemic symptoms. would these results suggest ctd? if so why the negatives? if not what else could be causing the symptoms and results?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, it would be useful to consult a rheumatologist. Your symptoms may or may not be related to ANA. Wish you good health!
