The term, "skipped beat" refers to the sensation of a "squeezed chest" or "thud", which occurs after a PVC or PAC, which is characteristically not "felt". The sensation is that with skipped or electrical events (PVC's or PAC's) the next "real" beat will have more blood volume to eject into the circulation, having "extra" venous return of blood force the heart muscle to contract strongly.
