If you are citing a hemoglobin level using usual units of measure, I consider these low. In that part of the world, it could be iron deficiency, but it could also be, a hereditary variant hemoglobin molecule like one of the thalassemia's. I don't consider it normal but cannot add more without several other test results.

A hemoglobin this low should be evaluated. There are multiple possibilities, in addition to those Dr. Ferguson mentioned, like excessive mensural blood loss, hookworm infestation, malabsorption and disorders of blood formation. It would be prudent to see a doctor. Wish you good heath!
