What could cause a sharp decrease in your ferritin levels? my ferritin went from 36 to 16 in two months. i supplement occasionally. my hemoglobin is on the brink of low levels. i cannot seem to keep my iron levels up even with supplementation?

A sharp drop in ferritin level and lower Hb mean more blood loss in the mean time and the amount of iron supplement is not adequate. First, whatever the cause of blood loss has to be controlled. Second, you need to increase iron supplement by increase the quantity or formula and taking vitamin C along with iron pill may increase the iron absorption but you do not need more than 500 mg of C a day.
