It varies significantly among people. Capacity of female bladder is higher than male bladder but overflow incontinence is higher in female because the sphincter is stronger in male. Not uncommon, the urine may go back up to the kidneys (reflux) when the bladder is too distended if the vesicoureteral valve is relatively weaker than the bladder outlet sphincter.

Not a good idea to hold urine for too long. make a habit of emptying at time of urge or soon after. If you think you will not have opportunity to empty then empty bladder before you embark on that task.
