A clogged ear is typically due to eustacian tube dysfunction. this can be caused by sinus infections, nasal infections, allergies and other conditions that result in swelling and blockage of the canal which goes from your ear into the back of your nose. Laying with the affected ear down can cause some fluid to accumulate on that side, in the canal. Try a decongestant and a warm saline nasal wash.
