My daughter had a pfo closure on 7-6-22. she wants to know what will happen if she starts vaping again. doctors told her not to but she wants to know the side effects and if it will cause damage?

What is she vaping? Nicotine affects the tiny blood vessels of the body reducing blood flow and impeding natural healing. Whether or not it would impede the repair at this point is not clear. Dr. DeBakey's studies of this effect led to removal of cigarettes from all battle ration packs in the US military years ago.

Agree with Dr. Ferguson. Vaping is bad for one's health in multiple ways, especially bad for the brain.

Your daughter has recently undergone a cardiac procedure. Vaping and any smoke exposure should be avoided. Please follow up with your Pediatrician. Watch for signs of shortness of breath, and follow post repair instructions.

All of us are in full agreement. Vaping should be scrupulously avoided, and your daughter could benefit from counseling, such as a life coach, if she persists in this self destructive quest.
