If one has had chronic insomnia during the duration of being on celexa (about a month), is it a possibility that lexapro would not cause insomnia?

It is possible that you will not develop insomnia with escitalopram. But of course discuss more with your prescribing doctor. Despite being similar, they are chemically different drugs.

Since many medications can alter sleep/ waking patterns due to adverse effects, if this creates disruption of quality of life, it is appropriate to try an alternative to see if that preparation would be better tolerated.
