There are multiple reasons for anemia, from chronic diseases to chronic blood loss, in this case anemias are typically iron deficient. While the cost of further tests might worry you, it is much more important to have a proper diagnosis and treatment.

How low? All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, it would have helped had provided the actual results, low is not useful information. Wish you good health!
