Excess saliva production in pregnancy can be due to hormone production, nausea and heartburn. While there is no effective treatment, increasing the swallowing reflex can help. Ways to do this: chew gum, brush teeth often with minty toothpaste, eating or drinking (lots of water intake!). This symptom typically resolves within the first trimester.
