I had hiatal hernia repair on wednesday along with bypass surgery. how long does the gas or acid reflux last. i have been drinking now and belching and i thought this was instant relief. the belching occurs when i swallow. its all in my collarbone ?

Surgery succesful: There are three types of surgery for hiatal hernia: Nissen fundoplication , open repairs, and endoluminal fundoplication.After laparoscopic surgery, most people may feel discomfort in their abdomen and chest and have difficulty swallowing. This usually passes within 48 hours. Patient should avoid foods that cause gas and bloating. Eat several smaller meals throughout the day ,Reg. food 4-6 wks.
