I bent my thumb a bit about a month ago and its been getting better week by week but still hurts a bit if I stretch it far enough or bend it the way it was that caused it to get hurt. Do thumb joints just take awhile to fully heal? No redness/swell?

Burned my thumb on a hot plate. Seems to only be 1st degree. There no blisters it's just red. I put ice on it first then read should be cool not cold. I can't get relief now. It burns so much. Help!?
