I have a sort of tension at the back of my head, right side that goes down to the bottom right of my throat. sometimes i feel the tension up to the back of my head when i swallow. its not a throat pain it is in the head. sleep apnea?

Don't think so. Try a different pillow. If not better get checked.

You may be experiencing an occipital neuralgia. The occipital nerve on either side exits the spine at the base of the neck,travels up the back of the scalp behind the ear. It can be pinched by tense neck muscles or become irritable, causing pain. Swallowing usually doesn't affect it though. It usually resolves on its own.
