A member asked:

Pcos+hypothyroidism)my gynaecologist asked me to take metformin for 2 months everyday. however recently i have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and the endocrinologist asked me to double my metformin intake and take levothyroxine. is this normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

This is normal. Metformin is a treatment for PCOS and dosage adjustments often need to be made. Levothyroxine treats the hypothyroidism and the dose may also need to be adjusted after you have been taking it for a couple of months.
