Vitamin C does help with absorption of iron. Monitor dosing and treat side effects. The cause of the anemia should be evaluated. Watch for signs of blood in stool.

The body generally only absorbs ~15% of the iron dose you take as a supplement. Increasing that percentage is a good idea if you are anemic as you must replace urgent need and long-term iron stores. This plan can shorten the time required to resolve your anemia.

Taking iron and vitamin C together is appropriate and recommended. Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs.
