Is cystoscopy the only way to check for a urethra stricture? are there other safer ways?

Cytoscopy is the best method to check for urethral strictures. External imaging frequently misses the strictures. If you are experiencing anxiety around this procedure, talk to your Dr who may be able to give you anxiolytics (valium/xanex) prior to the procedure.

Yes there are. ASn antegrade or retrograde urethrogram can be done. But dont be scared of a flex cystoscopy under topical anesthesia. If done properly it is virtually painless. Good luck
