It would depend on the type of test. Some tests would okay on 3 day old specimen stored in a refrigerator, others require a fresh sample. Most labs will keep blood specimens for a week and most blood drawings obtain significantly more blood than is actually required for the tests ordered. It is very common to order additional tests after the fact and there is usually no need or advantage to obtain a fresh sample.
