I think i have bacterial vaginosis as ive had it once before years ago - the symptoms seem to be the same this time round.. last time i was in the uk and was able to grab something over the counter. i am now in the us and dont know what i need?

You need to see your OBGYN doctor for a diagnosis and treatment. Treating yourself, and self diagnosis is not the best way to help solve this problem.

There is no standard OTC treatment for bacterial vaginosis. In addition to a prescription, women with BV should be professionally diagnosed and tested for STDs, which are more common in women with BV. Good luck.

Treatments for BV require a prescription in the US so you will need to consult a provider. You could see a gynecologist but there are also test kits available in the pharmacy that you can use, some of which provide quite detailed results and then provide telehealth services. You may also use one of those tests and then consult one of our doctors on this HealthTap platform for treatment
