What can you use over-the-counter for bacterial vaginosis?

Probiotics: Probiotics are something that you can try in order to change the ph of the vagina to encourage growth of lactobacilli. Sometimes a woman needs a course of metronidazole, but definitely can try probiotics first. Healthy diet, regular exercise and sleep as well. Good luck!

Not much: Over-the-counter medications are unlikely to treat your infection. Bacterial vaginosis is treated with medicine. Two different medicines can be used. They are called: metronidazole clindamycin both of these medicines come in different forms. They can come as a pill or as a gel or cream that a woman puts inside her vagina. Most women have fewer side effects when they use the gel or cream treatment.
